As a Black woman-owned and woman-operated media company, LUXE RADAR MEDIA is excited to launch Young Women In Media (YWIM). We have chosen to dedicate fifteen percent of our subscription proceeds to support this program.
YWIM is LUXE RADAR MEDIA’s mentorship program introducing young women between the ages of 14-22 to creative roles in media.
our mission Statement
to enrich the lives of young women by providing them with a creative outlet and giving them the opportunity and resources to help prepare them for secondary education, the creative workforce and/or entrepreneurship.
We created this program for young women ages 14-22 because we believe those years, teen to early adulthood, is a crucial professional development period in which they are being groomed to choose a career path while at their educational institution. Whether it be selecting high school classes or choosing a degree program at an undergraduate institution, we strive to be a guidance during that time while introducing them to different creative career paths in media. It is imperative to us that we introduce them to the process of creating content that pays homage and celebrates who they are.
Our goal is to foster a relationship with participants enrolling at the age of fourteen and continue to be a guide supporting them through graduation. LRM will work with each participant to help them determine which area of discipline they would like to master and provide them with resources, course work, and assignments as it relates to an area within LUXE RADAR MEDIA or participating partners. By allowing them to experiment with the different areas, they will be able to get real life experience working with a media company that offers training and skill set building across multiple areas: tech, web development, creative writing, social media, film production, and digital marketing.
Through this program, We hope to enrich the lives of young women by providing them with a creative outlet and giving them the opportunity and resources to help prepare them for secondary education, the creative workforce and/or entrepreneurship.
+ Is YWIM a virtual or in person program?
LUXE RADAR MEDIA is based in Miami, FL. For participants living in Miami, they will be able to attend scheduled meetups and events. However, majority of the assignments within the program will be assigned and completed virtually through email and conference calls. We believe this method will help the girls build accountability and communication skills similar to what would be required in the creative workforce.
+ Are there any requirements to enroll in YWIM?
YWIM is an inclusive program. We do require applicants to identify as female and be between the ages of 14-22 at the time of application. If the applicant is between the ages of 14-18, she must be enrolled in an educational institution. If the applicant is between the ages of 18-22 and enrolled in an undergraduate program at a community college or university part-time or full-time, her academic pursuits will be used in determining her placement in the YWIM program. If the applicant is between the ages of 18-22 and is not enrolled in an undergraduate program, she can still apply, however her inquiry letter will be the determining factor of acceptance. Applicants under the age of 18 must have legal guardian consent to participate.
+ Is YWIM a free program?
Yes. The YWIM Program is fully funded by LUXE RADAR MEDIA and participating partners. At this time, applicants will be responsible for personal expenses and personal equipment.
+ Can I participate in multiple enrollment periods?
Yes, however, you will have to submit an application to indicate the new enrollment period area of focus you would like to participate in. We are always adding new focus areas to the program and this will give other enrollees the opportunity to participate in different areas.
Enroll to join Young Women In Media (YWIM). Due to allocated space, each participant must enroll every enrollment period to be accepted.
